Rescue a Dog

Thinking of buying a puppy or dog from a pet shop or breeder?

STOP! Before you buy from a pet shop, beware! Did you know... 99% of all pet shops in the United States use puppy mills as a source for their puppies?

A puppy mill is where dogs are massed produced to make money! They live in inhumane conditions and kept in rabbit-like cages, unable to escape their own urine and feces. They never even get to touch the grass. When animals are unable to breed, they are improperly destroyed.

ADOPT a pet from your local animal shelter! Looking for a "designer dog", the animal shelters are full of them. Designer dogs are cute, but often come with health problems due to careless pet shops and breeders. Anyone can breed 2 dogs and make up a name. If your breeder or pet shop wont show you the mom or dad, then there's a good possibility that they came from a puppy mill. Also, you should call local veterinarians for their advice on where to get that special new member for your family!

There are some reputable breeders out there. Reputable breeders will interview you to ensure their puppies are going to a good home. A good breeder, breeds for the love of the breed!

REMEMBER! Some dogs have to be groomed. A process that should be started early and can be costly. Some need groomed every 6 weeks for the duration of their life.

What Can You Do?

Adopt from a shelter, rescue group or reputable breeder. As owners, we can all help by spaying or neutering our pets! This will help with breast and testicular cancer and other illnesses. Sometimes, it is costly to have them spayed/neutered, so if you need help contact your local animal shelter. They have programs to assist you.

There is no excuse. SPAY OR NEUTER!

I have a 10lbs approximately 5-year-old male Rat Terrier that needs a home. He was brought to me as a rescue, sick, and under weight. In the past month he has recovered and been given all of his shots. He needs an inside home with lots of love. He is not very energetic and does not like the cold. He is very sweet and follows you around. He also listens very well and does not run away when taken in the yard.
